چکیده
Planning for the decarbonisation of island energy systems is both crucial and fraught with complexities. The process to develop evaluate these plans needs encompass not only technical economic specifics but each plan's impacts on environment local inhabitants must also be considered. This inclusive planning involves multiple criteria requires a means handling them. In this paper series potential future are generated EnergyPlan software Faroe Islands before assessed using set covering their environmental, social, aspects. These used by two multi-criteria approaches, along actual weights obtained from stakeholders, rank systems. It found that there clear shift in rankings towards employing offshore technologies due inclusion social specifically fitted Islands’ resident's preferences. shift, however, was sufficient scenarios outperform other performed well criteria. findings indicate likely value terms acceptance transition adjusting include greater quantities strategies.

Chlamydophila psittaci in Fulmars, the Faroe Islands
Chlamydophila psittaci was detected in 10% of 431 fulmars examined from the Faroe Islands. Analysis of ompA showed a sequence almost identical to that of the type strain. The origin of C. psittaci outbreaks in fulmars is discussed. Despite a high level of exposure, the risk for transmission of C. psittaci to humans is low.

Birth weights in the Faroe Islands are among the highest in the world. During the 1980s, infants born there had 200 grams higher mean birth weight than their Danish peers. Half of this diVerence could be attributed to a longer gestation (four days on average), half to a higher fetal growth rate. A high intake of seafood has been suggested to be a possible cause of this pattern. The findings of ...

Primary carnitine deficiency is caused by the defective OCTN2 carnitine transporter encoded by the SLC22A5 gene. A lack of carnitine impairs fatty acid oxidation resulting in hypoketotic hypoglycemia, hepatic encephalopathy, skeletal and cardiac myopathy, and arrhythmia. This condition can be detected by finding low levels of free carnitine (C0) in neonatal screening. Mothers with primary carni...
متن کاملA retrospective study of PBDEs and PCBs in human milk from the Faroe Islands
BACKGROUND Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in wildlife and humans remain a cause of global concern, both in regard to traditional POPs, such as the polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and emerging POPs, such as the polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs). To determine the time related concentrations, we analyzed human milk for these substances at three time points between 1987 and 1999. Polyc...
